Quarries exploited from the to the century to extract stone for the construction of various buildings, including the Pantheon.

Few people know it, but as you walk through the streets of Herblay-sur-Seine, Montigny-lès-Cormeilles or La Frette-sur-Seine, you'll find quarries beneath you, several dozen meters below ground level. Quarried from the twelfth to the early twentieth century to extract stone for the construction of buildings such as the Pantheon! A maze several kilometers long, they are no longer open to visitors, due to the risk of landslides.
