CHINESE PAVILION
Chinese Pavilion, an architectural curiosity in an enchanting setting in Isle-Adam, to visit.
In an enchanting setting, this architectural curiosity dates from the time when "Anglo-Chinese" gardens were in fashion. In 1778, Pierre-Jacques Bergeret de Grancourt, a wealthy landowner from L'Isle-Adam, acquired the Châteaupré estate and had this factory built according to plans by Fragonard. It is topped with an octagonal roof reminiscent of a pagoda. This pavilion is not only decorative, it also serves as a dam regulating the flow of the adjacent pond. The mystery: the identity of the architect remains totally unknown.
