NOTRE-DAME-DU-VAL ABBEY
This abbey is the oldest Cistercian foundation of Île-de-France, built from 1125, over a century before its two sisters of Royaumont (Asnières-sur-Oise) and Maubuisson (Saint-Ouen-l 'Aumcona). Sold as a national property in 1791, she moved from owner to owner to finish in the hands of a promoter in 1845. He used the magnificent buildings as a stone quarry to build the districts of the Batignolles and the Plaine Monceau in Paris. The monks building and a gallery are the only survivors. A large number of personalities in the Middle Ages are buried there: knights, bishops, cannons, acquaintances and their wives. Graves, only eight tombstones were found in the region. Guided tours are organized by the friends of the Association des Amis de l 'Abbaye Notre-Dame-du-Val.
