SAINT-DENIS CHURCH
It is a small village church like so many others, but whose Romanesque charm continues, despite the many subsequent changes. Saint Denis Church rises in the centre of the old village of Jouy-le-Comte, now district of Parmain. Its nave was built in the th century, as evidenced by the squat silhouette and the hanger bays. The steeple is Gothic and the building was reworked to the Renaissance: the elegant southern facade recalls it. Two strong female personalities are attached to the history of the building. Jeanne d'Arc, the first, who stopped there in 1429 or 1430; two small crosses carved on a chorus of the choir are proof of this. Anne-Marie Martinozzi then, niece of Mazarin and Princess of Conti. She withdrew in a pavilion connected to the choir after the fire of the castle of L'Isle-Adam (1669). He has to restore the church and the construction of a charming presbytery.
