A walk through the ramparts of Pontoise, a vestige of the city's rich past.

Illuminated at night, the city walls overlook the Oise River and are a vestige of the city's rich military past. They were used to defend the old medieval castle, which was dismantled in the 18th century and was gradually replaced by houses. Today, only the old casemates, whose function was to protect the drawbridge by acting as firing posts, are present for some of them. The ashlar structure has admirably withstood the ravages of time and is well worth a visit.
