This abbey, almost a thousand years old, welcomes contemporary works during temporary exhibitions. An artistic Mecca.
The Cistercian abbey of Notre-Dame-de-la-Royale was founded in 1236, at the beginning of the reign of Saint Louis, by his mother Blanche de Castille. The estate has been owned by the Val-d'Oise General Council since 1979. Major rehabilitation work has been undertaken, as well as archaeological excavations. Reopened to the public in 1987, Maubuisson Abbey now offers temporary exhibitions and various activities linking heritage and contemporary creation. An 8-hectare park, which houses artistic works in the open air, surrounds the complex.
