CHAPELLE ECCE HOMO
A modest chapel to visit in Taverny, a religious monument housing an altar and a statue of Christ.
You'll have to venture up the little Chemin des Hires to discover this little-known part of the local heritage - and yet it's well worth the detour! The Chapelle Ecce Homo ("Here is man" in Latin) is said to have originated from the wishes of the pious Madame de Pollalion, a former court lady of King Louis XIII. Inside, an altar and a statue of Christ. Although modest in size, the chapel has nevertheless withstood the ravages of time, aided by various restoration campaigns, such as the one carried out in 1998.
