THE ABBEY PRIORY
A priory in Ablis, founded by Geoffroy de Presles and the monks of Thiron Abbey, classified as a historic monument.
Founded in 1115 by the monks of Thiron Abbey, the priory of Saint-Epain-Saint-Blaise later became a dependency of the Abbey of Josaphat. Remodeled in the 16th century, it is flanked by two "poivrières" - small turrets topped by characteristic conical roofs. Its facade, listed in the Monuments Historiques supplementary inventory, features a Romanesque porch that was altered in the 17th and 18th centuries, and a triangular pediment.
