MAIRIE D'ANDRESY
Andrésy is less than thirty kilometres west of Paris, near Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, Poissy and Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Its location, at the confluence of the Seine and the Oise rivers, made it the home port of a Roman war fleet, charged by Julius Caesar with watching over Lutetia, hence its name (at the time " Anderitum "). This fleet was called the Classis Anderitianorum, the fleet of the Anderians. Andrésy later became the property of the bishops of Paris. It was given to the canons of Notre-Dame-de-Paris, who remained lords of it in the spiritual and temporal realms until the Revolution. Numerous personalities have stayed or lived there, such as the empire general Lepic, the writer Julien Green, Mouloudji, the Gaumont family and Josephine Baker. Other artists have been inspired by its verdant setting such as Guy de Maupassant, the poet Paul Fort or Maurice Leblanc, Arsène Lupin's " papa " and the painter Renefer. Today, Andrésy is located at an international river crossroads, on a route linking Rouen and the Netherlands.
