ANDRÉSY DAM-LOCK
Automated dam-lock of the department of Andrésy with 3 navigable passes and attracting many fishermen
One of the 4 locks in the département, these are engineering structures used for the passage of boats and for regulating the course of the Seine. The Andrésy lock, inaugurated in 1959, replaced the old needle dam built in the 19th century. The latter attracted many fishermen to this reservoir teeming with fish. Deemed insufficiently reliable as a flood regulator, it was replaced in the 1950s by a more modern structure. At the confluence of the Seine and Oise rivers, the automated floodgate regulates the course of the rivers with 3 navigable passages.
