BONNELLES PONDS
The former park of the Duchesse d'Uzès castle has become a nature reserve, home to rare plant and bird species.
Formerly the landscape park of the Duchess of Uzès' château, the reserve covers 13 hectares and includes two islands and several ponds. A footpath leads you around the ponds, which are teeming with rare plant and animal species: 330 plant species and 80 bird species have been inventoried here - bee-eater, scarlet warbler, reed bunting, kingfisher and green tree frog. Some of the Park's former "factories" punctuate this pleasant visit: the pier, now an ornithological observatory, and a kiosk known as the "Temple of Love".
