SINGER SITE
This sewing-machine and engine factory bears witness to a bygone era.
In a town with a rich industrial past, the Singer factory is one of the last witnesses to a bygone era. From 1934 onwards, a workforce of 1,600 manufactured thousands of sewing machines, as well as engines, until 1986. Singer was a factory with an international vocation, one of the first to embrace globalization. A vestige of this epic is one of the steam engines that powered the factory. It is still maintained by enthusiasts and is on display during the Heritage Days.
