THE FAIRY CELLAR
The cellar with the fairies, place which was used as residence to fairies whose only occupation was to frighten the passers-by in Brueil-en-Vexin.
The Fairy Cellar is a Neolithic covered alley discovered in 1768. It is said to date back 2,000 years before our era. Extensive excavations a century later uncovered a pit 14 m long and 2 m wide that was to be used for burials. It was classified as a historical monument in 1957. Numerous legends surround this place which has terrorized several generations of villagers. It served as a home for fairies whose only occupation was to frighten passers-by. A force of imagination that at least kept this burial place intact.
