MAISON DES INSECTES
In the heart of the 113-hectare Parc du Peuple de l'Herbe, the Maison des Insectes is a 25-hectare cultural discovery and meeting place, hosting a variety of temporary exhibitions (history, architecture, urban planning, landscape, photography, the Seine...) and workshops. Insects from here and elsewhere welcome you into their world, and are at the heart of the permanent exhibition of the OPIE, the Office pour les insectes et leur environnement (of which the Maison is the headquarters), with an original scenography: giant models, several vivariums and terrariums, as well as a butterfly aviary are available to visitors eager to learn more about this unknown world. It is also an LPO refuge. Mediators work here to raise awareness of the work of scientists, insect breeding and research. Partnership with the Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle, which lends out exhibitions. The Maison des Insectes is a place for walking, meeting and learning about nature. A guide-mediator accompanies visitors to deconstruct preconceived ideas and apprehensions about the world of "teeming" insects. The House deserves to be better known for the importance of its environmental mission. It teaches us that preserving biodiversity begins with protecting insects, so we can say "no" to prejudice! You can spend the day with your family, picnic in the park and take one of the various workshops on offer.
