THE ARTESIAN WELL AND THE SAINT-BLAISE CROSS
A well in Carrières-sous-Poissy, dating from 1902, used to supply water to homes and one of the town's laundries.
The Carrières artesian well dates back to 1902, and was used to supply water to the town's homes and one of its laundries. Built by the town council, the work was financed by Mr. Vanderbilt. Water first flowed from the well in 1905, and it remained in service until 1933, when Lyonnaise des Eaux took over. During the Second World War, however, the well was put back into service when the pipes were destroyed by bombing.
