DIVERSION ISLAND
An island where you can take a stroll and see some amazing houses, with a small footbridge that used to be accessed by boat.
This island was created in 1882, following the digging of the canal known as the "dérivation", on the right bank of the Seine. The lock, now disused but still visible, was a popular strolling area for Carrierois until 1978, when the last barge passed through. Today, the island is a pleasant place to stroll, accessed by crossing a small footbridge (until the 1960s, it was only accessible by boat). The island is home to a number of architecturally striking houses, some dating back to the early 20th century.
