THE POND OF THE GALIOTTE
Protected natural area, with a village of floating houses featuring some forty wooden structures with tin roofs.
This protected natural area is home to some forty wooden constructions built on a barrel base, immortalized by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The cottages, with corrugated iron roofs that are sometimes painted, are supplied with water and electricity. The fish-filled waters of the 25-hectare pond led fishermen to build floating cabins to house their fishing parties. Gradually, women and children came to enjoy the site, and the architecture of the cabins improved, until they became true floating homes.
