TOWN HALL PARK
A remarkable park, listed as one of the "Most Beautiful Gardens in France", a site steeped in history in Carrières-sur-Seine.
Louise de La Vallière, favorite of Louis XIV, is said to have lived in the building that is now the town hall. In 1640, Simon Le Tellier, physician and adviser to the King, bought the estate and his brother-in-law, Antoine de Bonigalle, engineer with the Ponts et Chaussées de Paris, created the park. At the time, the highest basin was used to water the kitchen garden, the central basin was stocked with fish, and the last basin was a weir. Since 1996, the park has been listed as one of the "Most Beautiful Gardens in France" by the Conservatoire des Jardins et Paysages de France.
