SAINT CLOTILDE RELIQUARY
A small church in Chambourcy, dedicated to Saint Clotilde, built in the century and housing relics of the saint.
Daughter of Chilperic II, Clotilde married Clovis in 493. She was behind the king's conversion to Christianity: at the battle of Tolbiac, Clovis implored Clotilde's God to help him, promising to convert if he emerged victorious. He was baptized by the bishop of Reims in 498. Clotilde was buried in Paris alongside her husband, but it was in the small church of Chambourcy that the shrine containing the saint's relics was transported in 1791.
