SAINT CHRISTOPHER CHURCH
This 1848 church was rebuilt on the ruins of the former Benedictine priory church, complete with crypt.
Overlooking the valley, the present church dates back to 1848. It was rebuilt on the ruins of the former 12th-century Benedictine priory church, which was destroyed during the French Revolution. The small adjoining crypt is the only vestige of the original building. Inside, the former pulpit from Port-Royal (1702) has been transformed into an altar; two stained-glass windows from 1850 and recent stained-glass windows. The Christ on the Cross, attributed to the classical painter Annibal Carracci (1560-1609), has been removed and is now on display at the Conservatoire des Antiquités de Chartres.
