Building in ruins, remains of a lower dungeon room, featuring a stone corbel with a grimacing figure.
The Place Saint-Christophe features the remains of an 11th-century fortified castle built on the site of an ancient oppidum. In 1068, there were three châtelains (lords) in Châteaufort, linked to three châteaux: the châteaux of La Motte, Marly and the "donjon". These remains formed the base - or, more accurately, the lower room - of a stone tower that stood 36 m high and almost 20 m in diameter, with walls 3 m thick. On this now ruined building, you can make out a stone corbel adorned with a grimacing figure.
