FOIRE DE CHATOU
The Foire à la Brocante et aux Jambons, "France's finest flea market", takes place twice a year: in March and September.
Twice a year, Chatou's Île des impressionnistes hosts France's finest flea market: the Foire nationale aux Antiquités, à la Brocante, aux Galeries d'Art et aux Produits du Terroir. In March, and again in September, the fair brings together 500 dealers from all over France to grace the Chemin Vert alleys and boulevard Richard-Lenoir with their stalls. Initially a Lard Fair, then a Ham Fair, the event was later supplemented by a Scrap Metal Fair from 1840 onwards, all of which took place in Paris itself, before arriving in Chatou in 1970.
