Founded in 1100 by Simon II de Montfort and Bishop Saint Yves de Chartres, Notre-Dame-de-Clairefontaine Abbey was entrusted to the Canons Regular of Saint-Augustin. Left abandoned after the French Revolution, it was donated to the Dominican sisters, who lived there until 1996. Most of the estate has since been abandoned, with the exception of the chapel, which was converted into a contemporary art center in 2016. 5 design studios are also available.
