GALLO-ROMAN NYMPHAEUM
Go there and contact
This ancient sanctuary was built in the th century in order to make a cult to the Nymphs, deities of the woods, mountains and waters. The only original elements presented here are the marble and limestone slabs of the basin. Indeed, the rest of the Nymphée was returned using construction materials and techniques identical to those of origin. The original of the statue of an extended woman, probably representing the source, is now at the National Museum of Antiquities of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. The site of Dammartin will probably again be the subject of visits, but it is closed to the public because submerged, because of the resurgence of a groundwater tablecloth from the Vaucouleurs.
