BOURGET-CALMETTE PROPERTY
The property where Albert Calmette lived, with two large houses in the Neo-Norman style, is a must-see address in Jouy-en-Josas.
Home to one of France's most famous physicians. In 1921, Albert Calmette invented the Bacille Calmette-Guérin tuberculosis vaccine, better known as BCG. The property includes 2 large houses in the Neo-Norman style built by the Bourget family: La Garenne des Metz (1885-1890) and L'Enclos des Metz (1913). It was bequeathed to the Pasteur Institute, which authorized Dr. Calmette to use it as a country house.
