AUBERT PARK CASTLE
Château du Grand Chesnay, a classical pavilion surrounded by two wings in a public garden, whose history is uncertain.
This classically-ordered pavilion, surrounded by two wings, forms a charming ensemble in the extension of an attractive public park. Around 1660, Maignard de Bernières bought parts of his Chesnay estate, formerly the Maison du Bel-Air, from Le Pelletier, and had the buildings that are now the Château du Grand Chesnay constructed. Although the history of the château is uncertain, it may well have been remodeled by Hardouin-Mansart, on the orders of Louis XIV; Le Nôtre is said to have designed and created the park that today bears the name of the former owner.
