NOTRE-DAME DE LA ROCHE ABBEY
The history of the abbey began in the th century when a first building was built to host a statue of the Virgin miraculously raised by a bull. In the early th century, the priest of Maincourt founded a hermitage at the site of the current abbey. Thereafter, the building housed a community of monks maintained by Mistletoe I of Lévis. Over the centuries, the abbey underwent prosperity and then ruin. It was in the mid th century that the Lévis-Mirepoix decided to restore the building to make it available to the orphanage of L'Assomption d'Assomption. Today, the primitive Gothic abbey houses a horticultural training centre and religious ceremonies are always celebrated in the church. Visitors can discover the tomb statues of the lords of Lévis, the 28 stalls dating from the th century, which are among the oldest in France, as well as the altar that wore the statue of Notre-Dame de la Roche. It is possible to combine the abbey visit with that of the Skit of the Holy Spirit - inquire of the initiative union.
