HOLY SPIRIT SKIT
An unusual and enchanting building and hermitage in Mesnil-Saint-Denis, built in 1938 in the purest Byzantine tradition.
In the Bois du Fay, near the Chemin de Bellepanne, stands a site built in the purest Byzantine tradition: the Skit du Saint-Esprit, built in 1938. This Russian Orthodox monastery is the oldest hermitage still in use in France. The beauty of the place is striking: with its superb bulbous domes, the building is an unusual sight in this small forest in the Yvelines. Inside, you can admire numerous frescoes and icons created by iconographer Father Grégoire Krug. The place is well worth the detour: it's beautiful, magical and poetic!
