This neo-Renaissance castle with sculpted facades is installed on 2 floors with turrets, belfries, terraces

"La plus royale bonbonnière qui existe", said Balzac of this château. In 1844, buoyed by the success of The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas decided to build himself a "little house" on the hillside of Port-Marly. Two years later, the project had taken the shape of a beautiful residence: a neo-Renaissance château with sculpted facades, set over 2 floors with turrets, belfries and terraces. In addition to guided tours, the château occasionally offers dramatized tours, as well as an 1880s Escape Game and Murder Party.

Sur les pas d'Alexandre Dumas...
Le château de Monte Cristo est un site agréable à visiter et à taille humaine. Il s'agit plus d'une grande demeure que d'un véritable château, les pièces étant de taille relativement modeste. Pour autant, la visite n'en est pas moins très intéressante et des explications concises à l'intérieur permettent de bien comprendre la vie et l'oeuvre d'Alexandre Dumas. Le tout est très bien entretenu. Enfin, on apprécie d'autant plus de découvrir ce site qu'on sait qu'il a failli disparaître il y a quelques décennies au bénéfice d'un projet immobilier !

Magnifique demeure autrefois d'Alexandre Dumas "père" et son petit château d'If où Alexandre Dumas travaillais. Le château de Monte Cristo est vraiment splendide et mon coup de cœur c'est la pièce qui reconstitue l'ambiance du palais des Nasrides de l'Alhambra à Grenade en Andalousie, cette pièce orientale est tout juste magnifique. Ce château est vraiment une très belle surprise.
