BRIDGE CASTLE
One of Louveciennes' former châteaux, on a hillside overlooking the Seine, with a stone gate and original moat.
Situated on a hillside overlooking the Seine, Château du Pont is one of the oldest buildings in Louveciennes. In the 12th century, the estate belonged to the powerful Abbey of Saint-Denis. The current residence dates from the 17th century, as evidenced by the height of the roofs, the width of the openings and the stone stringcourse decorating each façade. Not actually inhabited until the late 18th century, it has undergone numerous modifications, and the moat, bridge and stone gate are the only remaining elements of the former château.
