THE HAMLET OF NEIGHBORS
A walking trail in Louveciennes features a commemorative plaque commemorating the tragedy of July 22, 1944.
A stroll through this picturesque district is a must. The area was often portrayed by the Impressionists, and as the walk here joins the Impressionist Trail, reproductions of paintings can be seen at street corners, set up where they were painted. Among the artists who lived in the hamlet was the composer Camille Saint-Saëns. At a bend in the road, a commemorative plaque commemorates the arrest of Jewish children from the Louveciennes agricultural orphanage by the Gestapo on July 22, 1944.
