HIPPODROME DE MAISONS-LAFFITTE
The Maisons-Laffitte racecourse, one of France's most important racecourses, with a 2 km racing line.
The town's equestrian vocation dates back to the acquisition of the château in 1777 by the Count of Artois, who restored the stables and installed thoroughbreds. Laffitte then organized the first races, and the meadows on the banks of the Seine were leased by Joseph Oller, inventor of the PMU, who laid out the first tracks. A full-fledged racecourse since 1878, following improvements to its facilities, it is now one of the world's largest horse-racing centers, with a surface area of 92 hectares.
