DISCOVERY WALK "ON THE SIDE ROADS"
Easy to access bicycle loop in Méré allowing to discover the country of Montfort-l'Amaury rich in history during a beautiful walk
Designed by the Regional Park of the Chevreuse Valley, this bicycle loop starts from Méré station and is therefore easily accessible to all the Authorities. It allows you to discover the Montfort country-the Amaury, then the countryside and the forest of Rambouillet. We go to Galluis by the house of Antoine-Germain, a pharmacist of Charles X and inventor of bleach, then cross the RN 12, a former Roman route linking Paris to Brest. In the hamlets and the countryside, you discover a country decor, the memory of Marcel Aymé, and a lot of beautiful mansions, such as the castle of Mormaire (th century). Next to the forest, a delight for the locals, to the ponds of Holland, which recalls the establishment in the th century of the vast hydraulic network to feed the basins of Versailles. The loop concluded in the charming village of Montfort-the Amaury, rich in history, which was marked by personalities as diverse as Anne de Bretagne or Maurice Ravel, before joining Méré station.
