ST. PETER'S CHURCH
Three-aisled church with Gothic and Renaissance buttresses in Montfort-l'Amaury
This three-aisled church was built in the 11th century, before being modified at the end of the 15th century at the request of Anne de Bretagne, protector of the town and now Queen of France. In 1524, the queen's death halted the work - which was eventually continued between 1532 and 1547 by André de Foix, Count of Montfort, and completed in 1613. The exterior features Gothic and Renaissance buttresses. Inside, the finely sculpted hanging keys in the ambulatory, and superb 16th-century stained-glass windows.
