THE MARKET HALL
The Halle de Poissy was designed to shelter animals, before becoming a livestock market until 1867.
Built between 1825 and 1832 by architect Auguste Goy, the Halle was originally intended to shelter animals from weather fluctuations. The cattle market was enlarged in 1852, under the impetus of Greppin, the city's official architect. In 1867, the market was abolished, with calf trading remaining the only authorized activity until 1884. Throughout the 20th century, the metal arcades were used exclusively for cultural events, before being completely renovated in 1999.
