A museum dedicated to toys and games for toddlers, ideal for immersing yourself in childhood, with access for people with reduced mobility
All that remains of the Dominican monastery are the park and its fishpond, the surrounding wall and its towers, the barn and, above all, the Enclos de l'Abbaye. Since 1974, the Musée du Jouet has been housed in the porterie of the former royal priory of Saint-Louis, and is entirely dedicated to toys and games for toddlers - 13,000 objects dating from the 17thto the 20thcentury . The 800 objects in the permanent collection are an invitation to immerse oneself not only in childhood, but also in history. After major renovations lasting three years, the Musée du Jouet reopened its doors in May 2019. It offers - for the first time in France - a chronological approach to toys and the culture of childhood: from Antiquity, with toys dating back to the5th century BC, presented thanks to a deposit from the Musée du Louvre, to the entry into the various Industrial Revolutions, which were also those of toys and the place of children in society.
The tour is enhanced by four play areas where children can take a playful break, dress up, play construction games or puppets, stop to look at beautiful albums or listen to children's songs... Michel Manson, professor emeritus at the University of Paris-XIII, specializes in cultural objects for children.
Accessible to disabled visitors, the Museum offers a rich cultural program all year round, with workshops, shows and events such as the Fête du jeu and the Nuit des musées.

It’s a small ish museum that was fun. You can easily spend an hour in there. We were rushing a little and did everything for 45 mins. There were some interactive toys that were fun to show to the kids on how daddy used to play games. ????
Wish it was a little bigger, but everything was well presented and the place was clean.
If you have an hour to kill with kids, highly recommend.
Je le croyais un peu plus grand.
