QUEEN'S DAIRY
Architectural complex where Marie-Antoinette and her entourage enjoyed milk and cheese from the nearby Bergerie.
La Laiterie was a gift from Louis XVI to Queen Marie-Antoinette in 1787. The buildings are located in an enclosure next to the English garden. It was here, in this classical architectural ensemble, that the Queen and her entourage tasted milk and cheese from the nearby Bergerie, in a round room with a dome and Sèvres porcelain service. Regular events include costume days, macaroon tastings (a cookie dear to Marie-Antoinette), period games and 18th-century music and dance lessons.
