ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH
Church with large windows in flamboyant Gothic style. Mixture of Romanesque and Renaissance styles. Stained glass and stone Madonna.
Listed as a Monument Historique, Saint-Georges church is a skilful blend of different styles, reflecting different eras. An early Romanesque church was built in the 12th century, then redesigned in the 16th century by Charles de Sabrevois, Lord of Richebourg, as an expiatory edifice. Unfinished on his death in 1537, it was finished in Renaissance style. Inside, admire the sculptural quality of the high lanterns and hanging keys, as well as a fine 16th-century stained glass window and a 15th-century stone Madonna.
