MANOIR DE LA TROCHE
Remarkable medieval fortified farmhouse steeped in history, said to have been built by the Knights Templar. Not open to the public.
Situated between Richebourg and Bazainville, this fortified farmhouse was occupied as early as the Middle Ages, although most of its buildings date from the 16th century. It is assumed that it was once a sickhouse for lepers, founded in the 13th century by the Knights Templar - the main hall still bears the name "hospital". The farm became part of the village in the 17th century and is now a listed building. Although privately owned and not open to visitors, its proud silhouette can be seen in the distance, bearing witness to a storied past.
