PORGES CASTLE
Chateau dating from 1889 to 1904 with garden, golf park, terrace with beautiful views. Private seminar venue.
Set in a vast wooded area, this château is a visual landmark for miles around. Built for financier Jules Porgès between 1899 and 1904, it is an enlarged replica of the Hôtel de Salm in Paris. Architect Mewès drew up the plans, landscape architect Verhaeghe designed the gardens and artist Faivre created the decorative sculptures for the pleasure garden. From the park, now one of the department's most prestigious golf courses, there is an unobstructed view over the Rémarde valley. The building is now used for seminars.
