ST. CHARLES CHAPEL
The construction of this chapel began in 1820 in Rosny castle, at the request of the Duchess of Berry, in order to host the heart of his husband murdered in the same year. The plans were designed by the Swiss architect Joseph-Antoine Froelicher, who had undertaken to redesign the castle. The chapel of the chapel recalls the architecture of some ancient temples, making the building a pure product of neoclassical architecture, typical of an eclectic th century, in search of its own architectural style. Inside, the sculptor Rutchel built a cenotaph in white marble surmounted by a statue of Saint Charles Borromeo. The ballot box containing the heart was removed in 1830 because of fear of desecration and then in 1889. It was hidden by a German soldier during the Second World War, found in 1866 and deposited in Saint-Denis basilica. The chapel is now classified as the Historic Monuments.
