OFFICE DE TOURISME INTERCOMMUNAL SAINT-GERMAIN BOUCLES DE SEINE
Tourist office offering walking tours along the banks of the Seine, accompanied by a guide
It was in Yvelines, on the banks of the Seine, that Impressionist painting had its heyday at the end of the 19th century. Nine communes have joined forces to invite visitors to discover the places where the plein-air painters Renoir, Sisley, Pissaro and Berthe Morisot set up their easels. From Carrières-sur-Seine to Chatou, from Bougival to Louveciennes, from Marly-le-Roi to Port-Marly, from Le Pecq to Noisy-le-Roi, walkers can rediscover the landscapes that inspired so many famous artists, by bike, on foot or by boat. You can walk the Impressionist Trail, lined with reproductions of paintings in situ. It is divided into four circuits, named Sisley, Pissaro, Monet and Renoir respectively (map available from the tourist office). And from June to September, take an Impressionist cruise on the Seine! On board, a guide recounts the history of the region. The Saint Germain Boucles de Seine Tourist Office welcomes you to Saint-Germain-en-Laye at the Villa Eugénie Desoyer, just a stone's throw from the château, in the Jardin des Arts.
