SAINT GERMAIN CHURCH
This church, built on the foundations of three buildings, is a representative example of a Restoration church.
Erected on the foundations of 3 earlier buildings, the church is a representative example of a Restoration parish church. The designs by architects Moutié and Malpièce are based on a basilica plan with a colonnade, preceded by a porch with a pedimented peristyle and a bell tower at the back of the choir. While the influence of the Roman temple is evident at the entrance, the coffered ceiling in the interior and the frescoed decorative cycle by painter Amaury-Duval in the nave and on the vaults of the chapels and choir confirm the building's early Christian approach.
