ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH
A primitive cross-shaped building with a double portal, bell tower, nave and choir.
This cross-shaped church has a single nave and three bays. Built for Robert the Pious in the 11th century, it was enclosed within the castle walls. The porch's double doorway dates from this period, as does the bell-tower attached to the church at chevet level. The nave and choir were rebuilt in the 16th century, without any architectural ornamentation. Philippe Auguste is said to have had a miraculous vision in this church in 1184.
