THE SAWTOOTH CITY
Well known to the amateurs of modern architecture, this working city was realized between 1926 and 1931 by the architects Henri and André Gutton, father and son, to accommodate railway workers. Inspired by the modern German movement, this ensemble, which comprises individual houses, marked the history of French architecture with its perspective perspective with rights and highlights, which gives it its shape - and its name - of saw teeth. The instructions given to the Gutton were clear: Workers often worked at night, so they did not need a large garden, but they had to be able to rest and feel "at home." The result was seen as a success of social habitat. The city was recently renovated, after an important mobilization of its inhabitants, all tenants, while its destruction was programmed. It is now listed in the Additional Inventory of Historical Monuments.
