GÉANT VERT - GENERAL MILLS FRANCE
Who doesn't remember the brand's iconic advertising where a green giant pushes his famous "Ho, ho, ho, ho"? This canned vegetable manufacturer is renowned for the quality of its original soft and GMO-free sweet corn. Since 2013, it has been certified as Origine France Garantie.
History. The brand's history goes back to 1903 in the United States, with the Minnesota Canning Company, which canned corn and peas. It was in 1925 that the famous Green Giant - which was not so green - was born, inspired by a larger than average variety of peas. In 1929, one of the brand's best-sellers was created: the Original, a variety of sweet corn with tender and juicy small grains. In 1950, the giant became the emblem of the Green Giant Company, the brand's new name. However, it was not until 1960 that it arrived in France and became the leader in canned corn. And it was in 1977 that the only Green Giant factory in Europe, the Seretram, was established in Labatut in the south of the Landes.
The products. In addition to Original corn and peas, Géant Vert has canned other vegetables: Gourmet White Sweet Corn, with elongated grains and a refined taste; Mexicorn Sweet Corn, a delicious blend of corn and red and green peppers; and finally, the famous Ultra Crunchy Sweet Corn, with bright yellow grains and a sweeter taste. This is followed by white asparagus, green asparagus, palm hearts, pimientos del piquillo and mini corn cobs. And finally, the hearts and artichoke hearts and bottoms.
Employment. The brand has more than 2,200 employees in France.
