VERNEUIL CASTLE
Built in the late 15th century, this château was once the residence of the Lords of Verneuil. It retains its dovecote, cellars and vaulted outbuildings. Originally in Renaissance style, it underwent numerous modifications in the late 18th century. Over the course of time, the property passed through a succession of owners, including Hervé de Tocqueville, who inherited the property in the early 19th century and hosted Chateaubriand. In 1929, the property was bought by the nuns of the Notre-Dame congregation, who founded the Notre-Dame des Oiseaux school.
