ACADÉMIE ÉQUESTRE DE VERSAILLES

Bartabas, a renowned master of the equestrian world, created the Academy in 2003 and still directs it. This prestigious corps de ballet, where man and horse are one and the same, has found shelter in the Grande Écurie. This magnificent building, built by Jules Hardouin-Mansart along the Place d'Armes, housed the royal cavalry from 1683 onwards. Today, the boxes accommodate some forty horses of different breeds, which evolve in the riding arena, a wooden box forming a theatre setting, or in the quarry installed since late 2013 in the Cour d'honneur, under the gaze of passers-by. Under the guidance of a passionate and demanding master, the riders receive an eclectic artistic training here: in addition to high school training, they work in dance, singing, fencing or Japanese archery! As for the show "La Voie de l'Écuyer", it has evolved over the years, and brings out, between tradition and modernity, all the art of equine choreography whose variety is hardly suspected. A happiness!
