SAINT SYMPHORIAN CHURCH
Neoclassical church with an antique-inspired triangular pediment façade, built by order of Louis XV.
The building, which resembles an ancient temple, was commissioned by Louis XV. The old Montreuil church had fallen into disrepair, so the king decided to build the new edifice. Shortly afterwards, Montreuil became part of Versailles, and the church became the town's third parish. Neoclassical in style, the building's façade features an antique-inspired triangular pediment. Inside, the vaulted ceiling and majestic columns create a spacious interior. The church has no stained-glass windows, but features some very fine paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
