HOTEL DES MENUS PLAISIRS
The hotel where the abolition of privileges and the Declaration of the Rights of Man were voted is now home to a music center
The Menus-Plaisirs, an administration instituted under Louis XIII and developed under Louis XIV, managed leisure activities (music, theater...) as well as religious and dynastic ceremonies, the personnel attached to the Court, and later, the Comédie française, the Comédie italienne and the Opéra. It was also in these buildings that the Estates-General were established in 1789, and where the abolition of privileges and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen were voted. Today, it is once again home to the Centre de musique baroque.
